Our Story
Inspired by the tradition of Finnish sauna, Sauna Valdez is a space for warmth, connection, and restoration in the heart of Alaska.
Founded in May 2025 by Ashleigh Bicknell, Sauna Valdez is a family-built business rooted in community. With the support of Seward Saunas, local friends, and even strangers she met hiking in 2024, the vision began to take shape. What started as a question quickly grew into something very real—a sauna built by and for resilience, sisu.
Sauna Valdez supports physical recovery, community connection, and emotional well-being—something slow, grounding, and deeply needed, especially through long winters and demanding lifestyles. These moments of warmth and connection matter.
Our hope is to provide a place where travelers can pause, where locals can gather, and where everyone can take time to rest, rejuvinate, and reconnect.

What do I need to Bring?
The key 3 items is a a water bottle, towel, and sauna clothing. Other things to bring to make the experience more cozy are sandals, a robe, and sauna hat (which you can purchase lcoally at Shop Treasures next to Rougues Garden).
